Engineering Week kicks off across the U.S

February 18, 2013 - EWeek began February 17 and runs until February 23rd,  with a goal of increasing interest in engineering and technology through a wide range of activities. EWeek promotes recognition among parents, teachers and students of the importance of high literacy in math, science and technology. The programs motivate young people to pursue engineering careers.

EWeek was founded by NSPE in 1951. Today it’s a formal coalition of more than 70 engineering, education and cultural societies, and over 50 corporations and government agencies.

This year’s EWeek programs include:

Discover Engineering Family Day: A festival in Washington, D.C., enjoyed by more than 6,000 visitors every February. This year, it takes place Feb. 16 and features dozens of hands-on activities provided by local engineering chapters and national organizations.

DiscoverE: The 'go-to' online destination for anyone looking for EWeek activities in their area. It features a searchable database filled with engineering events and camp programs.

New Faces of Engineering: Features the unique work of young engineers, ages 30 and younger, who try to solve issues on a global scale.

New Faces of Engineering, College Edition: Promotes the accomplishments of 3rd-, 4th- and 5th-year engineering students by highlighting their academic success and contributions to engineering.

Discover Engineering: A fun website developed for middle-school students to learn more about engineering that includes topics such as clean water, wind turbines and solar power.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day: "Girl Day" 2013 marks the 12th year of a special focus whereby women engineers and their male colleagues introduce more than one million girls and young women to engineering.

A Sightseer's Guide to Engineering: This site, by NSPE and Engineers Week, has a list of amazing engineering marvels throughout the country – and near your home!
